Featured Image of Was KIADB Aerospace Park Phase 2 cancelled? What actually happened

Ask whether KIADB Phase 2 was cancelled and you will find sources saying yes and sources saying no. Both are describing real events. They are describing different ones.

The short answer

The existing KIADB Aerospace Park Phase 2 was not cancelled. It is notified, allotted and full of operating companies. What was cancelled, in July 2025, was a proposed extension beyond the park: the compulsory acquisition of 1,777 acres.

What was cancelled

In July 2025 the Karnataka cabinet formally withdrew the compulsory acquisition of 1,777 acres near Devanahalli. That land had been notified for a further aerospace and aerocity extension. The withdrawal followed a long farmer agitation against the acquisition. Separately, a 495 acre acquisition had already been dropped after three years of protest. That is real, it is significant, and it is politically sensitive. Any page telling you vast new tracts of KIADB aerospace land are about to come to market is out of date.

What was not cancelled

The existing KIADB Hi-Tech, Defence and Aerospace Park is a different thing. It was notified and allotted years before any of this, and it is unaffected. The evidence is simply that it is full of operating businesses.

  • Boeing opened its India Engineering and Technology Centre here in January 2024: 43 acres, ₹1,600 crore, its largest investment of the kind outside the United States.
  • Safran and HAL run an aero engine joint venture in the Aerospace SEZ, making components for the LEAP and M88 engines.
  • Collins, through Goodrich Aerospace, holds about 25 acres.
  • Dynamatic Technologies operates a 27 acre facility.
  • Wipro Infrastructure Engineering holds a plot in the SEZ.

These are not planned. They are built, staffed and producing. The park exists.

The documentary proof, now on record

Operating tenants are strong evidence. A filed government record is stronger still, and one now exists. Prestige Parklane registered with Karnataka RERA on 15 September 2026. The filing records its address as Plot No. 24, Hi-Tech, Defence and Aerospace Park Phase 2, Bengaluru North, 562110.

The same filing names KIADB as the approving authority, and records a building plan sanctioned on 13 August 2026 under DO3-KIADB-00128/26-27/BP. A regulator does not register a project on a plot inside a sector that was cancelled. KIADB does not sanction a building plan on one either. The 2026 dates matter too. They show the Phase 2 sector actively approving new development a year after the 2025 extension was withdrawn.

So what changed in practice

KIADB has moved from compulsory acquisition to voluntary consent purchase of smaller parcels. That is a meaningful shift in how industrial land is assembled in Karnataka, and it has a consequence worth thinking through. New industrial land at Devanahalli is now scarcer and slower to assemble than it was. If you already hold land inside the notified park, that scarcity works in your favour. The supply of addresses inside the Aerospace Park is not about to expand.

Reading it correctly

Two wrong conclusions are in circulation, and both are worth naming.

Wrong conclusion one: Phase 2 was scrapped, therefore projects claiming a KIADB Phase 2 address have no site. Not so. The Phase 2 sector of the existing park is notified, allotted and occupied, and Parklane's RERA filing places it at Plot No. 24 inside it.

Wrong conclusion two: a huge new aerospace park is coming, therefore this corridor is about to be transformed again. Not so either. The extension that would have done that is the part that was withdrawn. The accurate reading sits between them. The park is real, it is working, it is not getting much bigger, and the corridor's employment growth is now coming from elsewhere.

Where the growth is actually coming from

This is the part that gets lost in the Phase 2 argument. The corridor has added more employment since 2024 outside the Aerospace Park than inside it.

What it means for a homebuyer

The cancellation story is usually told as a risk. For an existing Phase 2 address, it reads the other way.

  • The land under the project is settled. It sits in the notified, allotted sector, not in the withdrawn extension.
  • Competing supply inside the park is constrained. Residential addresses inside the notified area are rare, and the park is not expanding.
  • The employers are already there. Walk-to-work demand does not depend on a future acquisition going through.

What to check for yourself

Three things settle this question in about five minutes.

  • Put the coordinates of any project claiming a KIADB address into a map. Parklane sits at 13.211750 N, 77.767639 E.
  • Search for the companies named above. Their own sites carry their plot numbers and opening dates.
  • Read the project's RERA filing for the recorded address and approving authority.

Frequently asked questions

No. The existing Phase 2 sector is notified, allotted and occupied. What was withdrawn in July 2025 was the acquisition of 1,777 acres for a further extension.

After a sustained farmer agitation against compulsory acquisition. A separate 495 acre acquisition had already been dropped after three years of protest.

Yes. Boeing, Safran HAL, Collins Aerospace, Dynamatic Technologies and Wipro Infrastructure Engineering all operate facilities there.

Through voluntary consent purchase of smaller parcels, rather than compulsory acquisition. That makes new industrial land slower and scarcer to assemble.

Yes. Its RERA filing records the address as Plot No. 24, Hi-Tech, Defence and Aerospace Park Phase 2, with KIADB as approving authority.

Mostly outside the Aerospace Park: Foxconn, the AxisCades hub, Bengaluru Airport City, the ITIR and data centres such as NTT's at Prestige Tech Cloud.
